The Connection Between Learning Music Theory and Guitar Playing

Learning music theory is important for all dedicated musicians even if they can play instruments or sing even without knowing how to read music sheets. After all, there seem to be no real substitute for talent, right? Even if you are an excellent musician or if you can play instruments well or if you join a band, you are more likely to be able to express so much more of your music even better if you know how to use the basics of music theory.
If you are still in doubt of whether you’ll take up music theory, there is this analogy that could help you make up your mind. Apparently, not all people are born to become writers. Not all individuals can write and translate their thoughts in poetry and prose. Utilizing words more efficiently requires writers to know language and grammar. One’s knowledge in language can truly enrich a writer’s sense on the art of writing. While its true that identifying the ins and outs of a language’s grammar can be crucial, not everybody can be a writer.
For example is a person who could cook. Some people can naturally understand how ingredients can work and how a combination of flavors can create a wonderful dish. A person can sometimes naturally understand how specific ingredients work and how taste and flavor can make a wonderful dish. A wonderful dish created to make up a combination of tastes can be understood by someone who naturally knows how ingredients work. But when one actually enrolls at a cooking school to learn the basics of cooking, a person’s natural gift in dealing with flavors can be enhanced and improved. This will provide a orderly way of learning and you’ll be able to make sense of the things that often came naturally.
In other words, in order to be able to bend rules, one would have to know the rules first. Playing the guitar just by using of one’s ear is quite great.
